Underage Round Up w/e Sept 11th

Unfortunately, it was a weekend decimated by the weather, as almost all of Sundays underage games were wiped out. But there was some action:

U-13 Schoolgirls Div3 – Corkbeg 4 Corinthians Blue 1

A historic day for Corkbeg, as we fielded our first ever competitive girls team on Saturday afternoon in Whitegate.

Our U13 Girls team were superb, putting in a brilliant performance, in a 4-1 win over Corinthians in U13Div3.

Kayla Forde was the star of the show today, with a hat-trick and she set up the other goal for Lauren Conroy.

A great start. Well done, girls!

U13 Div 2 Corkbeg 4 Fermoy 2

The U13Div2 lads were home this evening against a really good footballing team from Fermoy.

Fermoy took their first goal at about 15 minutes into the first half after a nervy start from Corkbeg. However our captain, Jack Kelleher, took the ball from the halfway line, beating a few players along the way and into the top corner, 1-1 at half time.

Fermoy came out in the second half and piled on the pressure which ended in them going 2-1 ahead.

A cracking save from Finbar kept us in the game. A corner from Harry which found Michael, who headed it to Max who hit it perfectly from outside the box into the back of the net. 2-2.

Anyones game now, but then Corkbeg started to press, which led to a penalty for Donncha who buried it, 3-2.

We kept the pressure up which resulted in another penalty for Jack Kelleher, he got second of the night, 4-2.

Great result, fair play to them.

Corkbeg U-13 team before the game v Crosshaven

U13 Div2 Corkbeg 1 Crosshaven 1
Our first away match of the season saw us visit Crosshaven on a very wet Sunday morning at Camden.

We haven’t played them since they stopped our cup run in the semifinals in June.

Match started well and our boys were playing some lovely football, moving the ball really well all over the pitch. David, Donncha and Harry all had chances from play but the strong wind and weather didn’t help us. 0-0 at half time.

In the second half, Crosshaven came at us and piled pressure on us which led to a scrambled goal, 1-0 to Crosshaven.

The lads battled on and we won a free outside the box, Harry asked very politely could he take it, I couldn’t refuse and he scored a cracker 1-1.

It ended a draw and the lads were happy.

We finished the match by singing happy birthday to Dylan in the pouring rain, gas men.
