U14 Cup – Corkbeg 2 Kinsale 0
Corkbeg marched on to the next round of the U14 Cup thanks to a solid display and victory against Premier Division side Kinsale.
From the first whistle, Corkbeg took the game to their fancied rivals and smart play from Cian Moore nearly had Josh McCarthy in for an early chance. In an quiet first half in terms of action, the loudest cheer came when Jack Mulcahy hit a shot from distance to strike the outstretched arm of the Kinsale defender and to everyone’s amazement play was waved on.
So, no penalty given and the teams went to the sanctuary of the dugouts at half time.
In a half where the back four of Jackson Kearns, Ewan Forbes, Max Daly and Adam Lewis were totally dominant, Corkbeg were disappointed not to be ahead.
Corkbeg went into the second half with more purpose and desire and the lively Tom Walsh, Aesa Murphy and Cillian Burke continued to impress.
The pressure on Kinsale eventually saw a breakthrough as a long ball from keeper Sam McAllister went straight to Josh McCarthy, who thumped to the back of the net and a well earned lead for Corkbeg.
Tristin Ward, Jamie Walsh and Cillian Scanlon continued to put pressure and peppered shots at the visitors goal, but it was some sublime skill from Cian Moore on the edge of the box and a neat pass found the run of Josh McCarthy, who finished calmly to double the lead.
A well earned victory as the Whitegate side advance to the next round where they will face Watergrasshill.
Many excellent performances on the night with Josh McCarthy’s two goal salvo earning him the ”Man of the Match” accolade.

U12 Div 2- Castleview 0 Corkbeg 0
The lads were on the road early on Sunday morning to visit Castleview. A perfect morning for a game, it was a very even first half with both teams getting half chances.
The second half started off lively and the Corkbeg back 4 had to put in a super shift to keep us in the game. A very good footballing side, Castleview could counter and defend too.
Both teams had chances towards the end but the deadlock could not be broken. A draw was a fair result in the end. Man of the match performance from Cormac Cashman.
Loads of Small Sided Games over the weekend. There were home games for Corkbeg U-10s, Corkbeg U8 Cougars and Corkbeg U7s v St Marys, Springfield and Leeside
Meanwhile, there were away games for Corkbegs U-9 team and Corkbeg U-8 Cheetahs team.
