FAI Junior Cup – UCC Utd 3 Corkbeg 8
Corkbeg advanced to the next round of the FAI Junior Cup with a resounding 8-3 win over Cork Business League side, UCC Utd at The Farm on Saturday afternoon.
Corkbeg were quick out of the blocks and captain Shane Bennett gave the Whitegate side an early lead after only four minutes. Jordan Tynan doubled the Corkbeg lead on nine minutes, before some sloppy play saw the home side pull a goal back almost immediately.
That UCC goal didn’t rattle Corkbeg at all and two goals in two minutes by Alan Hogan saw Corkbeg lead by four goals to one after only 20 minutes.
Corkbeg continued to attack at every opportunity and found themselves leading by six goals to one before the whistle had blown for half time, with Shane Bennett and Jordan Tynan grabbing their second goals of the game.

Corkbeg took their foot off the gas at the beginning of the second period and the home side immediately pulled a goal back to make it 6-2. The comeback was short lived, as Alan Hogan completed his hat-trick soon afterwards to steady the ship once again.
Corkbeg had numerous opportunities in the second half to add to that tally, but again the spirited UCC team responded and pulled back yet another goal from the penalty spot.
Despite Corkbeg passing up a number of great opportunites, Jamie O Hanlon grabbed the games final goal with 15 minutes left to play. Aaron Berry had free kick come back off the crossbar, while Ryan O Regan also went close to scoring a ninth Corkbeg goal before the end.

U12Div10 – Innishvilla A 3 Corkbeg A 0
Tough day at the office last weekend in Innishvilla. A good first half performance, saw us go in 0:0 at half time, but 2 quick goals in the second half upset the flow a bit.
We were unlucky not to pull a goal back from a huge goal line scramble soon afterwards.
Another goal against the run of play, saw the game finish 3:0, but in fairness to the lads, they never stopped putting in the effort.
Well done everyone, with a shout out to Gavin Conway who stood into goals on the day.
